The performance of the fiber optic connector, the first is the optical performance, in addition, but also consider the fiber optic connector interchangeability, repeatability, tensile strength, temperature and plugging times.
1. Optical performance: for the optical performance requirements of optical fiber connectors, the insertion loss and return loss are the two most basic parameters.
Insertion Loss refers to the Insertion Loss of link effective optical power caused by connector Insertion. The smaller the insertion loss, the better. The general requirement should not be greater than 0.5db.
Return Loss (Reflection Loss) refers to the inhibitory ability of connector to link optical power Reflection, and its typical value should be no less than 25dB. The actual application of the connector, the pin surface after a special polishing treatment, can make the return loss greater, generally not less than 45dB.
2. Interchangeability and repeatability
Fiber optic connector is a general passive device. For the same type of fiber optic connector, it can be used arbitrarily and repeatedly. Therefore, the additional loss imported is generally within the range of less than 0.2db.
3. Tensile strength
For fiber optic connectors, the tensile strength should be no less than 40N.
